Welcome to Akinci Strength, where I aim to help guide you towards a better version of yourself. My name is Jihad (Yes, I've heard all the jokes), and I am the founder of this business. In this blog post, I want to take the time to introduce myself to you, my dear readers, and share my journey towards building Akinci Strength.
To begin with, I wasn't always interested in fitness. In fact, I was quite the opposite. As a kid, I was the quiet, overweight one at the back of the class, more concerned with the next StarCraft 2 match than my upcoming O Levels. I didn't see the point in physical activity, and I certainly didn't think it was something I could enjoy.
It wasn't until I hit my early 20s that I realized I needed to make some changes. I lost weight at the age of 20, and I started weightlifting a year later. But my approach to weightlifting was flawed. I mainly did bicep curls and calisthenics, not knowing much about the science behind it.
It wasn't until I was 24 that I learned how to squat and deadlift properly. I avoided these exercises like the plague because I didn't know how to do them, and I had no one to teach me. It wasn't until I engaged a strength coach, Greg, to teach me how to properly bench, shoulder press with a barbell, squat, and deadlift that I realized how important these exercises were for building strength.
Throughout my fitness journey, I stumbled upon many fitness fads that wasted my time and money. It was frustrating to see so many people fall for the same bullshit plaguing the fitness community. This is one of the reasons I started this website - to help guide others and prevent them from falling for the same mistakes I did.
My goal with Akinci Strength is to create a community where people can learn about strength training and fitness, without feeling intimidated or overwhelmed. I want to provide a safe space where people can ask questions, learn from each other, and share their experiences.
As someone who was once an overweight, introverted kid, I understand how intimidating it can be to start a fitness journey. That's why I'm committed to creating a community where everyone feels welcome and encouraged, regardless of their fitness level.
In conclusion, I hope this post has given you a glimpse into who I am and why I started Akinci Strength. My journey hasn't been easy, but it has taught me a lot about the importance of perseverance, community, and support. I'm excited to embark on this journey with you and help you achieve your fitness goals. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I look forward to sharing more with you in the future
